What will London's new Mayor do for greener transport?

So Boris - what will you do for greener transport in London? write to London's new Mayor todayBoris plans to cancel the CO2 Charge, but what will he put in its place?

Boris Johnson, London's new Mayor, has said he will cancel the new CO2 Charge, intended to deter the worse gas-guzzlers from central London and providing discounts for cleaner cars. The money raised was going to provide London's cycling budget for the next ten years.

What will Boris do to save the cycling budget, improve road safety and reduce air pollution in the city? His manifesto wasn't very helpful, but now he's been elected we want some answers.

We are asking Boris...

1. What meaningful incentives will he provide for people to choose lower CO2 cars in London?

2. How will he now raise the money for London’s £50 million a year cycling budget?
(The CO2 Charge was going to provide this money )

3. How will he improve road safety for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly on the school run?
(Road collisions are a bigger danger to young people than gun and knife crime)

4. What will he do to make sure London’s air quality meets European legal standards by 2012?
(Many of the most deadly particulates come from private, diesel-powered vehicles)
