What can you do?

There has never been a better time to make your voice count - polls and surveys regularly show that 70-85% of people support measures to deter the use of urban 4x4s.

The Alliance Against Urban 4x4s has a whole range of amusing, worthwhile and peaceful things you can do to help.

Write to the decision makers yourself

Email is an easy and effective way for you to tell our politicians what you expect of them on this issue. Pull together the points you feel are particularly important, or simply tell them that you support the requests of the Alliance Against Urban 4x4s (see our Mission page).

A long email isn't necessary - just a brief line telling them that you wish to see action on this issue is a very powerful message to decision makers, who take notice when they receive something from you directly.

Make sure your MP has a position on this, send them a letter or email to ask them to take this issue up with the Government via www.writetothem.com (formerly faxyourmp.com).

Write to your local Councilors too and ask them to increase residents' parking charges for the most polluting cars. Five Councils in London are already taking this step thanks to lobbying from people like us. www.writetothem.com

Our campaign has evolved. We're still working on action to get higher taxes and charges for gas-guzzlers in towns and cities, and we're making great strides on improving regulations for car advertising and information for drivers.

Issue spoof 4x4 'parking tickets'

Download informative mock parking tickets for urban 4x4s from our shop.

The tickets contain lots of information for urban 4x4 drivers about the effects of their choice of vehicle on the rest of us. Versions are available for 6 London boroughs and Brighton, as well as generic versions for London and any urban area in the UK.
